Your SalonVision AI portfolio is a public page at salonvision.ai/p/yourusername that showcases your best work. Clients and prospects can browse your range without booking first. This guide covers publishing looks, managing your portfolio, adding final photos, and what the public page displays.
Before You Publish
Three things must be in place before a look appears on your public portfolio:
- Your username must be set. Your username determines your public URL. If you have not set one, go to Profile and add it. See Getting Started for instructions.
- The client must grant portfolio-sharing consent. You cannot publish a client's look publicly until they have given permission (a model release). Collect it from the Portfolio sharing card on the client's page -- see "Client consent for public sharing" below. Publishing is blocked until consent is on file.
- At least one look must be marked as portfolio-ready. An empty portfolio page is still publicly accessible once your username is set. Make sure you have at least one consented look ready before sharing your URL.
Client photos are private by default. Before/after and generated images live in private storage and are only ever shown publicly for looks whose client granted consent -- served through short-lived, signed links. Everything else stays private to your account.
Publishing a Look to Your Portfolio
Looks are not added to your portfolio automatically. Each one requires a deliberate publish action, and the client must have granted portfolio-sharing consent first (see below). If consent is not yet on file, publishing is blocked and you are prompted to collect it.
To publish a look:
- Make sure the client has granted portfolio consent (the Portfolio sharing card on their page shows "Consent on file").
- Open the client's page and find the look in Saved Looks.
- Click the bookmark icon on the look card to add it to your portfolio. The look appears on your public page.
Click the bookmark icon again to remove a look from your portfolio.
Portfolio content represents your professional work. Only publish looks where the AI preview accurately reflects the direction discussed with the client. Adding a final photo before publishing gives your portfolio the strongest possible presentation. See the Final Photos section below.
Removing a Look from Your Portfolio
- Open the client's page and find the look in Saved Looks.
- Click the bookmark icon on the look card to toggle it off.
The look is removed from your public page immediately. It remains saved in the client record.
Client Consent for Public Sharing
Before any of a client's images can appear on your public portfolio, the client must grant portfolio-sharing consent -- a model release covering public display of their photos and AI previews. This is separate from the consent to use their photo for AI previews.
Best time to collect it: at the end of the appointment, when the client is happy with the result.
To collect consent:
- Open the client's page.
- In the Portfolio sharing card, click Collect consent.
- Read the short model-release statement to the client, then either:
- Hand them the device and have them tap [Client] accepts on this device, or
- Confirm I have the client's written permission if you already hold a signed release.
Once granted, the card shows "Consent on file" with the date, and you can publish that client's looks.
Withdrawing consent: open the same card and choose Manage / withdraw. Withdrawing removes all of that client's looks from your public portfolio.
Consent is per client (it covers that person), not per photo -- grant it once and all of that client's portfolio looks are covered until it is withdrawn. This is a record of consent, not legal advice; consult your own counsel on model-release wording for your region.
Adding Final Photos
A final photo is a real post-appointment photo of the completed result. It is the most important element of a strong portfolio entry because it shows actual outcomes, not just AI previews.
To add a final photo to a look:
- Open the client record after the appointment.
- Find the look in the client gallery.
- Click the camera icon on the look card.
- Upload the final photo.
On your public portfolio page, the final photo is displayed as the primary image for that look when one is available. Looks with a final photo are marked with a camera badge in your private client gallery so you can track which results are complete.
What Your Public Portfolio Page Shows
Your public portfolio page is accessible at salonvision.ai/p/yourusername without login.
It displays:
- Your profile photo, name, and business name
- Your bio, plus any contact and social links you added in Profile (booking link, Instagram, website, and so on)
- An image grid of your portfolio looks -- those you marked portfolio-ready whose client granted consent
- A detail view for each look showing the AI preview and the final photo (if you added one)
It does not display:
- Client names or any identifying client information
- The client's original "before" photo (kept private)
- Consultation notes or tags
- Style prompts used to generate the look
- Looks not marked portfolio-ready, or looks whose client has not granted (or has withdrawn) consent
Sharing Your Portfolio
Your portfolio URL is permanent as long as your username does not change. Use it anywhere you promote your work:
- Link in Instagram bio
- Pinterest profile
- Booking platform profile
- Email signature
- Business card QR code
If you change your username, your previous URL stops working. Any links you have already shared will break. Choose your username carefully and treat it as permanent once shared publicly.
Searching and Filtering Your Portfolio
From your private portfolio view (logged in), you can:
- Search looks by client name or style name
- Filter by tags
These tools are for your own organization. The public-facing page does not expose search or tag filters to visitors.
White-Label Portfolio (Salon Plan)
On the Salon plan, white-label portfolio is planned as an upcoming feature. When available, it will allow salon owners to remove SalonVision AI branding from portfolio pages and replace it with the salon's own logo and colors. This guide will be updated when the feature is live.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my client's name appear on my public portfolio? No. Client names and all identifying information are never shown on public portfolio pages. Only the look images and your profile details are visible.
Can I control which looks appear on my portfolio? Yes -- twice over. A look only appears if you explicitly mark it portfolio-ready *and* its client has granted portfolio-sharing consent. Everything else stays private in your client records. If a client withdraws consent, their looks drop off your public page immediately.
Do I need the client's permission to post their photos? Yes. You must collect portfolio-sharing consent (a model release) from the client before publishing any of their looks. Publishing is blocked until that consent is on file. See "Client Consent for Public Sharing" above.
What happens to portfolio looks if I delete a client? Deleting a client permanently removes all of their looks, including any published to your portfolio. Those looks will disappear from your public page immediately. If you want to keep looks in your portfolio, do not delete the client record.
Can I have a portfolio on the Free plan? No. Portfolio is available on Starter, Pro, and Salon plans.
Is my portfolio indexed by search engines? Yes. Your public portfolio page includes SEO metadata and is accessible to search engines. This is intentional -- your portfolio is designed to help prospective clients find you.
What if I have not set a username yet? Your portfolio page is not publicly accessible until you set a username. Go to Profile to add one.
